André Carson, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, recently voiced his opposition to the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) through a series of posts on his social media account.

In a post dated September 11, 2025, Carson explained his decision: "The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an annual bill to determine the policies of the Department of Defense. Yesterday, House Republicans pushed a partisan, extreme NDAA with poison pill amendments. Here’s why I voted no:"

He further elaborated on his objections in subsequent posts. On the same day, Carson stated: "The 2025 NDAA discriminates against LGBTQ+ servicemembers, attacking families and making our military weaker." In another post moments later, he added: "The 2025 NDAA did not address misuse of our military assets – such as the use of the National Guard against US citizens and an unlawful strike against Venezuela."

Carson has represented Indiana’s 7th District in Congress since succeeding Julia Carson in 2008. Before joining Congress, he served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and currently residing there, Carson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2003.
