U.S. Senators Todd Young and Laphonza Butler have introduced bipartisan legislation to authorize the production of coins commemorating the FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Senator Young, co-chair of the Congressional Soccer Caucus, expressed his excitement, stating, "As a co-chair of the Congressional Soccer Caucus and an avid soccer fan, I am excited to welcome the FIFA Men’s World Cup back to the United States for the first time in over three decades. This bipartisan bill will help preserve the legacy of this historic event and support the game of soccer across America."

Senator Butler also shared her enthusiasm, saying, "I look forward to Los Angeles and San Francisco hosting games for the 2026 World Cup. Sports has an ability to bring together people from all walks of life, and I am proud to co-lead this Commemorative Coin Bill with Senator Young."

Companion legislation has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by U.S. Representatives Darin LaHood, Rick Larsen, Don Bacon, and Kathy Castor, who are co-chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act would authorize the production of $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins, and half-dollar clad coins to commemorate the FIFA World Cup 2026. The coins would be minted at no additional cost to taxpayers, with proceeds supporting U.S.-based soccer programs, particularly for youth and underserved communities.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is organized by FWC2026 US, Inc., a designated 501(c)4 not-for-profit organization. The proceeds from coin sales will be used to help U.S.-based soccer programs and activities, focusing on growing the sport of soccer across the country, with an emphasis on youth, inner cities, and underserved communities.
